Are Weddings becoming extravagant?

Extravaganza on display!

A mela in itself! Weddings unite two hearts, means fun and excitement for some and business for a few others. Indian weddings have undoubtedly become extravagant, across regions and communities. According to a recent study, an average Indian spends approximately Rs.10 to 15 lakhs on a wedding. While it has become a prestige issue for most, the common man is under extreme societal pressure to conform to these norms. Why are we failing to understand the true essence of the tradition? Why are we succumbing to the demands of dowry and expensive celebrations? It is we, the youth of today, who ought to break these shackles and set free all strata from the ever-pressurising demands, for truly happy weddings across the country. We need to make this difference!
