Interested in the city's heritage? Here's a contest for you
|
On the occasion of Madras day on August 22, a special competition for schools the Chennai City Living Heritage Projects is being organised in association with INTACH, Chennai Chapter. The student teams will be required to research and prepare on the project at home or in the school and present them at chosen venues.
The presentation should be on heritage, culture, city-based personalities and local geography/ natural heritage. Students can even link events or developments of the past with its present state. For instance, a school in Mambalam can research about the tank or lake that existed in that area decades ago and the present condition of that area.
If the school is more than 50 years old, the school itself can be the theme.
The project has to be supported with maps, charts, collage of pictures or clay models, focussing on the theme the team chooses. After researching, collecting pictures and clippings from newspapers and magazines, the teams will have to assemble at the designated venue and build the project that is, draw the charts, make the models and paste photos on the spot.
Each school can send only two teams of four members each. The team members can be of all age groups, preferably of standards VI to XII.
Prizes will be given for the best projects on August 27.
