TOP OF THE WORLD Double deckers take you around town.

The last attempt at having a tourist shuttle for Bangalore was not a great success, but now another effort is being made to promote the hop-on hop-off style tourist shuttles in the city. Called City Swaps, it comprises a fleet of open-top double-decker buses that promise to give you a view and experience of Bangalore like never before.

The service is being offered by Conceptree Creations and they say that through their service tourists can explore the city at their own pace. Basically in a hop-on hop-off service, one can buy a ticket and get into any of the fleet buses and get off at any point. The ticket is valid for 24 hours and one can hop on and hop off any number of times during that period. The buses ply in a circuit with a frequency of 30 minutes and stop at 15 designated stops. The stops are Vidhana Soudha, Raj Bhavan, Kumara Krupa High Grounds, Chitrakala Parishath, Race Course, Vikasa Soudha, Cubbon Park, Hudson Circle, Museum, Anil Kumble Circle, Cauvery Emporium, Mayo Hall, Trinity Circle, Manipal Centre and Field Marshal Cariappa Memorial Park.

Travelling on the open deck of the bus is a wonderful experience but this is namma Bengalooru and overhead branches and low hanging wires are a real hazard. And all passengers are strictly instructed to sit in their seats when the bus is in motion. Another feature of the service are the City Jockeys who keep up a narrative of the places of interest throughout the journey.

The ticket for an adult is priced at Rs. 300 and at Rs. 150 for children between five and 12 years. For kids below five, no tickets are necessary. There are also discounts for senior citizens, group bookings and corporates.
