Treatment for techies

Ayurcare has come up with a therapy for computer professionals

With the advent of computers, the world has shrunk in size. Gone are the days when youngsters wanted to be doctors and engineers. Now Information Technology paves the way for a bright and prosperous future. About 80 per cent of the population is engaged, directly or indirectly, in a career involving computer technology. Although huge pay packets are an incentive, they come at the cost of the health of those who pursue careers in this field.

In this context, Ayurcare, the Ayurvedic Wellness Center, which offers treatments for chronic ailments, weight reduction and gain and beauty-related problems, has launched Navatejas, a therapy to address Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) and Computer Related Injuries (CRI) that computer professionals are prone to.

Stress related health hazards can be classified under three stages — Increased heart and respiratory rate, emotional imbalance and reduction in immunity come under Stage 1. Headache, sleeplessness, skin disorders and increased infections due to the collapse of the immune system fall under Stage 2. Irritability, aggressiveness and an uncontrollable urge to cry leading to nervous breakdown come under Stage 3.

Computer Related Injuries occur due to repeated physical movements leading to damage of the tendons, nerves, muscles and joints. The body has a mechanism to heal itself, but when it is put under stress repeatedly, it does not get time to recover, thus leading to chronic injury to the affected part. A commonly faced problem is the carpal tunnel syndrome, a condition in which a person feels a lot of pain in his wrist. Other problems include tendonitis, cervical and lumbar radiculopathy, trigger finger, vision disturbances, migraine, sleep and digestive disorders, hypertension, diabetes and cardiac problems.

Ayurcare offers programmes for a duration of three, five, seven and fourteen days (60-90 minutes a day). The programme is customised to suit individual needs in consultation with the physician.

Ayurcare is located at No 11/2 Sri Krishna Kuteeram Flats, Harrington Road, Chetput. For details call 43021623/24.
