PLAYING EVERYMAN Pankaj Kapur in the role

Actor Pankaj Kapur has been seen in Office Office for so long that one just can't imagine the popular comedy on SAB TV without him.

As Mussadi Lal, Pankaj has let open his genius in the genre.

Be it a hapless citizen at the hands of a set of corrupt government officials, or an honest boss showing the way to work without bribe, Pankaj has fitted himself in all the characters to precision.

But lately, Mussadi Lal has ceased to appear on SAB TV. Now re-christened as New Office Office, it appears on the Star One channel at 8.30 p.m.

Pankaj is quick to reassure viewers: "The new Mussadi Lal is the same old man. The only difference is that he would be tackling a host of newer and topical issues like multiplexes, hospitals, Brihan Mumbai Corporation problems, etc. But you will notice that the comic quotient in the serial has upped by a few notches." Though there have been so many accolades for him for the role of Mussadi Lal, Pankaj doesn't think humour is his strong point.

Besides Mussadi Lal, he is also remembered fondly for his small screen appearance as the eccentric detective Karamchand in the eponymous serial. This serial is also likely to reappear on TV.

Pankaj says he is involved in three movies at present, including Vishal Bharadwaj's Blue Umbrella.
