Happy reunion

The Old Students Association meet at St Teresa's College had a sense of deja vu

OLD MEMORIES They relived college days

You may be a septuagenarian, but go back to your old school or college and you become a mischievous teen. That's what 76-year-old Sr. Irmenia, felt when she returned to St Teresa's College last week for Old Students Association meet. Not only was she a student, but also a teacher at the college. For the others also it was sheer déjà vu, for the 1945-50 batch student, Mrs Sarasu, for Dr. Thankam Jacob of the Class of 1955, Sr. Emeline of the 1955-60 batch, Mrs Valery (1965-70), and Mrs Jijy Ramesh (1975-80). From the eighties, there were Mrs. Tara Simon, (1980-85), Mrs Jameela Prakasam, (1985-90) and from the nineties, Mrs Gita Martin. The youngest was from the 2000-05 batch, Ms. Minu Mathew.

They had so much to share and so many memories to relive, of friends lost, long dead and others with grandchildren and great grandchildren. St. Teresa's College, 81 years old, surely has alumni aplenty, the rich and the famous as well as several generations of model Mums. At the college Science Block Auditorium, nostalgia took over.

The college has a proud list of alumni - political figures like K. R. Gowri Amma, Mercy Ravi, Civil Servants like K.B.Valsalakumari I.A.S., Mrs. Lyda Jacob I.A.S., Geetha G. I.A.S., Susan Thomas I.R.S.; Dr. Jancy James the Vice-Chancellor of M.G. University, Pamela Anna Mathew, M.D., O.E.N., Sushama Sivaram and a couple of movie stars like Samvrita, Divya Unni, and singers like Sujatha, Radhika Thilak, Rajalakshmi, Renjini Jose, Vandana.

Principal Sr. Christabelle who welcomed the gathering hoped there would be constant contact among the alumni. Sr. Emeline, Provincial Superior of Kerala Province and Mrs. Lyda Jacob, Secretary of Housing and Social Welfare spoke. Mrs Laila George, president of O.S.A. spoke of the need of the association to be more active.

The `old girls' then became college girls once again when they played a game of elimination involving the whole audience.

There were special prizes for the oldest, the tallest, and the sweetest among the alumni. The evening proved to be an emotional reunion and an occasion to relive memories.
