When actors join hands

And now, a music video and a TV series to promote the cause of the HIV-infected

CROONING FOR A CAUSE Sonu Nigam

In her endeavour to work for the HIV-infected, Anu Malhotra has come up with a music video and a television series, both titled `Haath Se Haath Milaa.' The aim is to create awareness about HIV/AIDS among the youth. The song is written by Javed Akhtar, composed by Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy, and sung by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. The video stars over 40 film and 10 TV actors.

The television series features a `Young Achiever' in each story, encompassing his/her work, struggles and dream to shake hands with his/her favourite Bollywood star.

Speaking about the difficulties she faced while working with so many stars together, Malhotra said, "Managing such a huge star cast was difficult but it was tougher to get dates from them. However, if you are sincere, things come your way."

Talking about her choice of film stars as ambassadors, she said, "Viewers are attracted by film stars; hence when they convey a message, it gets across."

She urged the people to treat the HIV-infected with love and care.

Sonu Nigam, who also shared his experience about the show and the importance of such an endeavour, said, "Every human being needs appreciation, we went there to appreciate them for whatever they are doing for society."

Talking about Sariska Katoch, one of the Young Achievers, Sonu said, "She doesn't have a father. She comes from an orthodox background; and in spite of all this, her work for the uplift of the downtrodden cannot be described in words."
