From Australia to Mumbai

BUBBLY Anousha Dhandekar

From beauty tips to fashion fundas, songs ("Loot Gaye" from Mumbai Matinee) to movies, VJ Anousha has come along way. The vivacious MTV Stylecheck hostess who took over from Malaika Arora Khan after she left the channel, has come a long way. . After her "dream debut" in the star studded `Viruddh' last year, she is back as Rosa with Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi and Anthony Kaun Hai?

"My character in the film is a lot like me, she is a very bubbly girl which comes across in her nature as well as her attire," she concedes. Cast opposite Arshad Warsi , Anousha is all praise about the co-star. "He is just fantastic! He literally took me through the movie dispelling all apprehensions I had while playing my character."

Learning

Coming from Australia, Hindi has always been a problem for her, "Fortunately, my role in Anthony Kaun Hai? is that of a restaurant owner in Thailand, which required my type of Hindi." Defending herself, she says, "But I am trying to learn the language. It's taking long because I need someone to sit me down and make me learn."

Regarding her time in India as an "extended vacation" which began with VJying, Anousha declares her love for the job. "Both give me the same kind of satisfaction, so I don't plan to pick one, ever!"

Talking about workingwith Sanjay Dutt, she says she regards him as her "lucky charm". "Even though I have no scenes with him in either of the films, working with him is a great learning experience in itself," says the actor who was "forced to eat grasshoppers by Arshad and Sanjay during the film's shooting in Thailand".

Highlighting the changing role of actresses in movies, "Actresses today are wiser, doing different roles rather than a lot of movies," says Anousha whose favourite actress is Rani Mukerji. She finally says, " I want to try everything gradually. When you do too many things at once you become a desperate actor and start making mistakes."
