PERSONALISED SERVICE At Pretty Women.

Though the name has nothing to do with the hit movie, Pretty Woman, the beauty parlour, Pretty Women, in the RM Towers building on Chamiers Road, opposite Satyam Computers, promises to work the right magic to make you look like a Hollywood star.

Opened in 1989, Pretty Women's proprietor, Geraldine, has always been interested in the beauty business. She has nearly two decades of styling experience. "I joined Park Sheraton when I was 18 and was with them for nearly 15 years," she says. Her 5-star experience has seen her retain her clientele and that's why she opened her parlour on the same road. At Pretty Women, what stands out isn't the ambience, which is understated, but it is the service that is oh-so-polite and warm.

Geraldine's USP is haircuts, which she personally does. She believes every cut is in fashion and depends on what the client wants. "Sometimes when a client insists on doing something that will not suit her, it is my duty to explain why she shouldn't go in for it," she says. Besides helping clients choose styles and services, she advises them on daily care tips that are surprisingly simple. "There really isn't any `daily' routine to follow. Our weather demands that we wash our hair at least thrice a week. A conditioner is a must," she says. The products used are all from L'Oreal, which she believes is the best. But clients who want any other product can ask and the prices will vary accordingly.

A straight trim costs about Rs. 100 and a style change, about Rs. 200 with extra charges for shampooing and blow-drying.

Besides the usual set of services such as basic pedicure, manicure, threading and waxing, the parlour specialises in re-bonding. "Re-bonding is a great idea for someone with frizzy hair. For those with straighter hair, we recommend x'tenso, which is a milder version of re-bonding," she says. Call 98401 30603 or 24363060 for appointments.
