Ekta Kapoor goes online to cast for her forthcoming urbane soap `Kis Rishtey Se'

SMALL SCREEN Going online sounds innovative for Ekta Kapoor

Balaji Telefilms Limited is at it once again. After presenting high TRP Kasam Se, Kyunki.. and rest of them, it's time from yet another saga. Touted as based on a popular novel, the script will be penned by Bollywood biggies as the serial is slated to be positioned against Nach Baliye on prime time. Titled Kis Rishtey Se, the new soap to be aired on Star One has Shabbir Ahluwalia and Karan Wahi for male leads and Ronit in a cameo. As for the actresses for this story of two stepsisters, the hunt is on to find female leads to fit the roles. But this time online, as Ekta Kapoor plans to conduct the search for the leading ladies on www.baajaa.com.

"We were looking for classifieds inviting for entries. Online option sounded innovative, as it would be scaling many cities. It is a different media of communication to reach out to the youth and find the real face of Balaji Telefilms. There are no auditions. They only have to send their pictures and details. We have been getting hits from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad," says Ekta Kapoor, creative director, Balaji Telefilms Limited.

The two month old website is popular with users for posting advertisements of goods, sales and services. "The ShowBiz section was introduced late last week. As for the soap, my wife swears by Kasam Se. So," says Chaitanya Kapadia, CEO, Bajaa.com. Balaji Telefilms will be also sourcing the requirements for their ongoing serials from the profiles posted on www.baajaa.com, he adds.

As for those who want to give it a try, "actors, actresses, writers and other professionals can create their own profiles in the ShowBiz section of the website using the `Post a FREE Ad' button. They will also be able to attach pictures to their profiles. It can take as little as 20 seconds to create your profile," says Kapadia.

More on the soap, "it will be a family soap with a difference for the urbane family," says Ekta Kapoor. Kis Rishtey Se is slated to hit the tube by month end. And for those bitten by the acting bug and want to join the extended families and relationship sagas on the small screen, this is your chance to apply for a virtual audition. The role is probably just a click away.
