Just click if you're hungry

Ordering food to your office or home is now just a click away

Eating out in the city today can be an exercise in itself, starting from finding parking space. And if you want to order food home, then you have to thumb through the directory to find a restaurant and then try to place an order without knowing the menu. But a new dotcom start-up by a couple of ex-IITians called www.hungrybangalore.com, promises to make ordering food home a breeze.

The website, tastefully designed, is a one-stop place where you can choose a restaurant close to you, scan the menu and place your order. And the service is free of charge. The bill is displayed and your order is then passed on to the restaurant.

Confirmation code

To ensure that orders placed through the website are genuine, a confirmation code is emailed to you and the order is passed only after you enter that code on the website. Additionally, the restaurant will also call you confirm your order.

Another interesting feature is that you can place your order in advance before you go dine in at a restaurant.

"This concept of ordering online is new to Bangalore. Right now it is a free service for customers but we get a small fee from the restaurants for orders placed from our site. Whenever an order is placed we send an email to the restaurant or give a call. After that it is the restaurant's responsibility," says a spokesperson for Nexus Inc., which runs the website.

"The main advantage is that you can see what you are ordering in the menu and that ensures transparency between the hotel and the customer. We also have a feedback section on the website where people can post their comments. We are soon planning to integrate online payment into our site."

Right now the website has 35 restaurants on the list. The company says it is only a matter of time hoteliers in city realise the power of the Internet.

For a list of the restaurants near where you live/work visit www.hungrybangalore.com and click on the map section.
