Play within a play

WHEN LINES BLUR In Othello — A Play in Black and White, the traits of the stage characters take over the lives of the actors

Ranga Shankara, in association with Radico "Magic Moments", is presenting Roysten Abel's Othello — A Play in Black and White on August 12 and 13.

The play stars Adil Hussain, Barry John, Kristen Jain and Dilip Shankar, and goes one step further than the original Shakespearean text, dwelling on the lives of actors rehearsing for Othello. The play focuses on how the characteristics of the stage characters take over the real lives of the actors when the lines between stage and real life begin to blur and the emotions in the play — lust, greed, envy, jealousy and revenge — take over life.

Othello is at 7.30 p.m. on August 12, and at 3.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. on August 13 at Ranga Shankara. Tickets for the performance are priced at Rs. 100 for the matinee and Rs. 150 for the evening show. Call Ranga Shankara on 26592777.
