School children showed off their knowledge in a quiz organised by the Rotary Club

"When a new pope is elected and he moves into the ante-chamber, who is the first person he meets?"

Obviously youngsters here were not short on humour as one of them quipped :Jesus Christ!", another one said he probably met himself in the mirror! The rather prosaic but right answer to that poser is, the Pope meets the tailor who takes his measurements for his cassock.

This was a sample of questions that had the young participants at the Rotoquiz on their toes.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Coimbatore Texcity, 108 students from 15 schools in the city and as far away as Mettupalayam participated.

A preliminary written quiz was held from which eight teams made it to the finals. The quizmaster was M.Rangarajan.

The eight final teams were as follows: two teams from SBOA and one each from G.R.G Matriculation, Ramnagar Suburban, Satchidananda Jothi Niketan, Lisieux, CMS Matriculation and GD Matriculation.

The finalists had to face seven rounds that included three straight question rounds, three special rounds and a final buzzer round.

The winners were SBOA with S. Rohit, M. Mallikesh and Vidyuth Anand, the second place went to Ramnagar Suburban School with D. Anish, R. Subramaniam and R.K.Ramnath and the third place went to the other team from SBOA represented by V.Rajkumar, Selva Surendhiran and Ashish. The overall trophy went to SBOA MHSS.
