Spouses and Family Association at ISB has its hands full with drama, salsa and more
|
FUN ZONE Members get in touch with their lighter side
Come Dasara and the spouses of ISB students from the drama club will stage a Ram Lila. But before that on the anvil are a photography and painting exhibition titled Moods @ISB and a Monsoon Mela from the Spouses and Family Association (SFA), ISB, following the recent Raksha Bandhan do. While the class of 2007 at the B-School packs in seminars, assignments and guest lectures, the spouses have their hands full too. There is the monthly newsletter Chat Street to bring out, development work to take up or a salsa class to attend.
"If a spouse excels in a particular field, he or she takes the onus to teach other spouses. We have workshops on painting, dance, cookery, interior designing and more. A lot of spouses are also working on the campus as research associates and project coordinators. The school involves spouses as well, as seen on international campuses," says Nithali Ghoshal, president SFA. "Most spouses are well qualified and taken a break from their professions. The activities help unleash creative talent," observes Puneet Garg. Associated with the drama club Puneet speaks about Clean Act, the play staged by the SFA that received rave reviews. "It was a take on the corporate world and on life after ISB," he says.
Meanwhile Akshara, the social wing of the SFA is planning on taking up development work along with the Net Impact students social club on August 15. "We are conducting Hindi and English classes for the gardeners, cooks and helpers on the campus. From opening bank account to personal care, a whole gamut of areas are covered," says Komal. "When I see e-mails being exchanged between the committees on the activities after I go back home from office, I feel I'm missing out on a lot of fun," says Prachi Dixit, a spouse and an advertising and PR manager, Taj Group, Hyderabad. If the ISB is in the gig news for the weekend dos hosted by its student fraternity, here is a group silently working on a plethora of fields.
