RHYTHM DIVINE House music rules the disco floor
Revellers rejoiced as twin cities disc jockeys came together for a dusk to dawn gig at Ecstasy, Treasure Islands, last weekend. An ode to house music, the non-stop music train featured funky, deep, progressive and electro house with ample break beat from deejays Uttam, Prashant, Karthik, Ajay, Yogi, Rishi, Sanjay, Omer and others.
"All disc jockeys in town play house and the crowd is definitely knowledgeable to this genre of music. We did not play any commercial, Bollywood or Hip Hop during the gig and the audience had no complaints. House definitely is getting popular with revellers," says DJ Yogi.
"Music was great and as good as you find in the West. Even the crowd displays the same kind of energy," says Ranjitha from Toronto currently visiting the city.
Adds Sanjeev Hamsala, a software pro and PVD buff, "We did not expect house music. Thanks to the deejays for promoting it. If we have similar shows then I am sure international deejays like Sasha who come to Delhi and Mumbai will also come to Hyderabad." And there is more to come promises C.H. Prasad Reddy, managing director, Treasure Island. "Next week we will have deejays Shekhar and Sanjay who will be jamming with our in house deejay Uttam." Also, revellers can now look for a party album from the 12 year old discotheque that has hosted innumerable gigs on its poolside and the recently revamped Ecstasy with its Buddha Bar theme.
"We will be coming out with the album in September. DJ Uttam is working on the track listing," says Prasad. Move over Goa and Bangalore as Hyderabad gets into the groove.
