Is radio making waves again?

Regaining lost glory

About 65 years ago, at my mother's wedding reception, my grandfather had got this printed on the invitation — "Reception music - All India Radio". Those days you could spot many people walking on the road holding a small battery-operated transistor close to their ear. During my college days, Radio Ceylon and Vividh Bharathi were popular among youngsters. With the advent of television, there was a visible decline in the number of its listeners. But, today, radio's classy, contemporary, spiritual and spicy programmes are being heard all around, throughout the day.
