Is radio making waves again?

FM wave

In the pre-TV era, radio was the only entertainment apart from cinema. During those days, Radio Ceylon was the favourite station and announcers such as Mayil Vahanan, K. S. Raja and Abdul Hameed with their mesmerising voices enthralled listeners. Then came the onslaught of the idiot box and radio almost vanished. But it is back again with round-the-clock broadcasting by FM stations. According to a recent survey, sale of cassettes and CDs have nose-dived following the FM wave.
