Jute items on display
West Bengal is known for its creative streak, which manifest through various works of its artisans. And if you are yet to take a look at some handiworks from the land of Rabrindranath Tagore, then this exhibition organised by Swyambhar Nari should be your stop. You can start from looking at different items made out of jute. The stall includes items like jute swings, coasters, wall hanging and bags. From there you can move on to look at some interesting Madhubani paintings. The next stall stocks casual salwar suit sets in cotton. If you are kantha work lovers, the next stall is a must stop one. There's a lot of exquisite hand-embroidered kurtas, kantha work on khadi and raw silk in different lengths and patterns, to choose from. The stall has something to offer for men as well. The exhibition also has stalls dedicated to costume, jute and metal jewellery. And all of them are worth spending your time on. Another good stall is the one that has casual cotton kurtas for men. There's an array of colours to select from and all the pieces are priced at Rs. 250. Other than these, there's also a stall for leather bags, bags from Shantiniketan, brassware, and skirts and tops for women.
The good aspect of this exhibition is, of course, the fact that buyers get to interact and buy from the artisans themselves.
