ON A FLYING VISIT Kareena Kapoor with Priyanka Khosla, irector of Flying Cats
Today publicity campaigns have hit the skies. Gimmicks have become A-320-size. Flying Cats, a Complete Airhostess Training School, held its national launch, recently, 35,000 feet above ground on a chartered Kingfisher Flight flying Delhi-Chandigarh-Delhi. Kareena Kapoor was the chief guest. Flying Cats has opened 20 centres across the country in three months, since its inception.
The launch was two hours late, but the half-hour flight went by swiftly. Priyanka Khosla, Managing Director of Flying Cats, accompanied Kareena dressed in informal black. Khosla is well known as a fashion choreographer and is the Director of NIFD. Khosla welcomed the press and the lucky Flying Cats students who had been selected for the flight.
Combination
She said the speciality of her school was the combination of grooming and technical knowledge imparted to the students. "I want my students to stand higher than the others." To facilitate this, she promised, "I want to allow students from smaller towns to get full exposure." The advisory panel boasts grooming guru Sabira Merchant, Model and veejay Malaika Arora Khan, TV and film personality Aditi Govitrikar, to name a few. Executive Director, Kingfisher Airlines, Pervez Damania is the Chairman of Flying Cats Advisory Panel.
The curriculum of the school includes grooming, presentation, body language and diction. The school is also provided with virtual classrooms and a two-way conferencing system.
Kareena spoke hastily and called it her "pleasure and honour" to be launching the school. She added, "I believe that the academy will help students further their dreams and I truly pray that they will all be very successful."
Kareena and Khosla then walked down the aisles by popular request. The welcome address was followed by a fashion show to display the uniform of Flying Cats, designed by famed Bollywood fashion designer, Ashley Rebello. Models strutted down the aisle in their pink shirts and chequered mini skirts. With broad hair bands and pink stockings they looked like Alice in Wonderland gone kitsch. They even displayed the Flying Cats prospect, aprons and baskets. The welcome address and fashion show were repeated on the return for the benefit of those who boarded at Chandigarh. Much to the disappointment of all the passengers, Kareena was hustled out of the plane spurning autograph books, mikes and questions.
