"No item numbers, please!"
Namitha, the oomph girl of Kollywood, held a press conference last week where she said she did not want to be branded an item girl. Today, she has an identity of her own in Tamil cinema what with films being made around her glamorous image. She said she did not regret being cast only opposite senior heroes. But, her greatest desire was to act with the young guns of the industry who are after her to do `item numbers' in their films. Asked Namitha: "Why can't they give me a good role?" She was clear that she would not make special appearances or do item numbers in their films. "I have a handful of films where I play the central character that will keep me busy till the end of the year. Why should I be branded an `item girl' now," she asked.
