Exams in rock music

On rock music exams for teachers on August 23 conducted by Trinity Guildhall

Trinity Guildhall London which conducts the annual grade and certificate examinations in Western Classical instrumental and vocal music in the city through Musee Musical (73, Anna Salai) will also conduct rock music exams from 2007 in all metros in India.

For more than 10 years, Trinity and Rockschool Ltd., U.K.'s only rock and pop examination board, offering examinations in performing popular music, have worked together closely.

Rockschool adds a new dimension to the graded examination for performers wanting to pursue pop and rock styles in the chosen disciplines of guitar, bass, drums, piano/keyboard and vocals.

The exams are aimed at students of all ages and levels of ability. Rockschool exams offer what candidates want and what teachers need within an accredited framework.

As a prelude to this, a free workshop for music teachers will be conducted by Jeremy Ward, rock music examiner, and a director of Rockschool, on August 23 at the TNCA Club for music teachers.

It will focus on the syllabus (available from September 2006) with demonstrations, examples and mock examinations.
