Winners celebrate love

You don't need a reason to celebrate your love, but Half-Yearly Valentines Day may just be what the doctor ordered!

LOVERS' PARADISE Half-Yearly Valentine's Day contest winner Mr and Mrs Ratna Kumar Seelam enjoying their evening at Ahala

The Metro Plus and Taj Krishna's Half yearly Valentine's Day collaboration was a big hit. The idea was to introduce a mid-year celebration of love. Many readers wrote in to profess their love in innovative ways, but it was finally Ratna Kumar Seelam and his wife Rajini who got to celebrate their love with dinner at Ahala, the drama lounge.

The place was dimly lit with romantic music playing in the background. The five-course meal was available in vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.

Right from strawberries, chocolates and champagne mousse to appetisers and mocktails, chef Dhruv Pal made sure the food contained all the right ingredients to make this `a night to remember.'

A strawberry sorbet was also served between courses to cleanse the palette for the rest of the food.

With love

For the couple who have been married for only two months, the romantic dinner reflected the mood they already were in.

Ratna Kumar's winning message as to how he would celebrate half-yearly Valentine's Day was, `I would be with my Valentine in my cosy home, watching the raindrops fall on the window as we have hot, steaming cups of coffee.

Then I would propose my love with a surprise gift and present her with a single earring on august 14th. The other earring, I would give her on February 14th. That would be an unforgettable surprise for her.' Ratna Kumar clearly had his sense of humour intact as he gave his wife a single anklet that day and left her looking for the other one, since she didn't know his plan. He finally revealed to her that she would receive the other piece of her gift on Valentines Day. Ratna says, "Who knows, this trend will catch up by next year and soon everybody, including card makers, will be celebrating half-yearly Valentine's Day!"

Golden Dragon, the other venue for the half-yearly celebrations saw almost six couples celebrating the occasion.
