Metal meets lounge at the stands this week

City Lounge 2

Various/WWR

The compilation revisits Paris, Berlin, London and New York and its lounge atmospheres. Norah Jones, Stéphane Pompougnac, Grand National, Truby Trio, Roy Ayers and other notes artistes come together with classical and new titles while Dimitri from Paris featuring Omar, Jazzanova feat. Vikter Duplaix, Mark Rae and Sylk bring sounds from lounges in the four metropolises.

A Matter of Life and Death

Iron Maiden/EMI

Metal buffs rejoice as Iron Maiden releases its new studio album come August 25. "Producing Iron Maiden is like sitting in the head and driving one of those mammoth automatons from Star Wars or Saturday morning cartoons! I feel from the outset we all clicked on this one. We spent two months in the studio, from Nicko's `tubs up' to final mixes and sequenced master! That's a tiny gestation period for an album. The Beast is back," says producer Kevin `Caveman' Shirley about the highly anticipated cover.

Karmacode

Lacuna Coil/EMI

The Italian rock act return with their career-defining album. The lead track had its worldwide debut on the Underworld: Evolution Soundtrack, alongside Chester Bennington (Linkin Park), Slipknot, My Chemical Romance, Atreyu and others. This year the group were also featured on the covers of Revolver, Metal Edge, Outburn and Decibel, among others. Karmacode takes that a step further, seeing them further mature as musicians and songwriters. The album also features the Depeche Mode number Enjoy The Silence.
