Melting moments

A chocolate festival awaits the sweet-toothed at The Residency

TEMPTATIONS Hard to resist

A recent quiz competition in town had this question for the participants: A leading chocolate manufacturing company has a temple in its premises. Who is its reigning deity? The answer — Cadbury Matha.

If you would also like to worship at the chocolate altar, then The Residency is the place to head to.

A chocolate festival is on at its Baker's Corner.

You will get a fair idea of Charlie's emotions as he stepped into the chocolate factory. And here is a warning — if you are member of Chocoholics Anonymous, stay away!

So, how does Chocolate Mille Fille grab you? As you sink your teeth into it, a layer of crunch greets your teeth after which it is rich chocolate all over again. It is prepared with layers of puff and both dark and white chocolate have been used to concoct it.

Handsome treats

As the tongue savours the rich taste of chocolate, the eyes take in the pretty picture the chocolate goodies make as they are tastefully arranged on the table.

The handsome dark desserts are offset with sudden bursts of colour thanks to the various toppings and frostings used.

By now you can't help but succumb to the Chocolate Cups.

They are nothing but shells made of melted chocolates that are then filled with some more chocolate and chocolate flakes.

For a change of taste and texture, pop in some of the handmade chocolates.

If you are over 40, by now you should be seeing double with all that you have eaten!

But if you are not faint hearted, then you can take the help of a few sips of spicy soup or rasam to keep you going.

The chocolate puff basket has a salty crust that helps offset the sweet chocolate.

If are still thinking of your health (you wouldn't probably be here if you are), and insist on your daily serving of fruit, then voila!

Fruity delight

There is a chocolate fruit gateaux, simply delicious, with a generous topping of strawberries, litchis, Australian oranges and peaches and of course, cream.

And, Executive Chef S. Ashok Kumar assures you that the sponge cake involved in making some of these desserts contains only five per cent fat in it.

As if we care!

Serving ideas

It is not only chocolate treats you get here _ you can shore up on some great serving ideas, too. Colourfully wrapped chocolates in wine glasses add a dash of colour to your table as will skilfully woven bread/chocolate baskets that can be used for serving doughnuts or tarts or anything else you may fancy.

Some slabs of plain white and dark chocolates in a woven basket add a rustic and charming touch to the arrangement and of course any of the desserts up on offer will guarantee to have your guests asking for more.
