Shoot freedom
Giving an opportunity to those who want to frame their ideas, "Independence in 3 Minutes" is an initiative by DFG Films in partnership with Channel 4 U.K., The Public Service Broadcasting Trust, The British Council and the CBA-DFID Broadcast Media Scheme.
To coincide with the 60th anniversary of India's Independence from the United Kingdom, "Independence in 3 Minutes" will give eight Indian filmmakers an exciting opportunity to produce and direct a three-minute short film. The films must be set in India and have a fresh perspective, using the documentary medium in innovative and inspiring ways. The ideas should be original and contemporary. All films will be made available on DVD and online. In addition, four of these films will be broadcast on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. The films must be themed around India's Independence from the United Kingdom.
Some experience of shooting and/or directing documentary or visual media is necessary. However, DFG will provide camera and sound crew as well as close support throughout the project. The production will be based in New Delhi, although actual shooting may take place anywhere in India.
There will be a short intensive training and research programme attached to the scheme. It is obligatory that all selected filmmakers take part in this programme.
Eight films will be commissioned from eight different Indian filmmakers.
The application deadline is 5 p.m., August 21. For more information, visit: dfginfo@psbt.org or call 011-24355546
