Sameera Reddy is elated as the grapevine is rife about `Kalpurush' bagging National Award

SHINING ON Sameera Reddy is game for various roles
Sameera Reddy has reasons to celebrate. First it was the box office success of Ashok and Taxi No 9211.
And now, with the grape- vine abuzz about Buddhadeb Dasgupta's Kalpurush, also starring Rahul Bose and Mithun Chakraborty, bagging National Award for the Best Film.
A different role
"This was the best news. It feels amazing especially after sincere effort from the entire team. We all worked very hard. Buddhadeb is a great director and I knew something like this would happen," says the actress.
But wasn't Kalpurush shades different, read less heavy on the glam quotient, when compared to her diva do in Musafir? "You tend to get typecast or relegated to a slot. Therefore I have always tried to choose various kinds of roles. Kalpurush offered the right platform to do a different role." She adds, "this has been a good year for me offering hits all the way."
Equally elated about her forthcoming Naksha, the actress says, "this has been a different genre again. There was adventure, action and drama."
Sameera has definitely come a long way from her debut with Sohail Khan in Maine Dil Tujhko Diya.
Talk of a mixed bag of Telugu, Hindi and now Bengali films in her kitty.
Eastward bound?
"I am doing Buddhadeb's next film," she says. But Telugu cinema remains close to her heart.
"That is a strong audience for me and my association with the films is more of a pride for my family. Doing Telugu film is sentimentally a big thing for me," she reflects.
