After being a runaway success in its first innings on television, the reality dance show, Nach Baliye returns to Star One for a brand new season. The show, which became a household name last year, promises to be filled with high-octane drama and "sizzling on-screen chemistry" when it hits the small screen this September in its new avatar, Nach Baliye 2. The show has a brand new line-up of television's celebrity couples. The format of the show remains much the same as before except for a surprise feature, `The Wild Card Round' which would enable one of the voted-out couples to return for the trophy and `The Reality Episodes', which would provide an insight into the lives of the celebrity couples.

So get set to watch some of the biggest and the brightest stars on television putting their dancing skills to test for a stretch of 13 weeks.

Announcing the launch of Nach Baliye 2 in New Delhi this past week, Sameer Nair, CEO, Star Entertainment India, said, "Nach Baliye was an idea that became a reality." He hoped that the new season of the show would be as good as the previous one, if not better. "A few surprises are added not only for the viewers but also for the `jodis', so as to make it even more interesting," he added.

What Edwin Denby, an American poet, had once said, "There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good," was evident as all the `jodis' present at the launch event were enthusiastic about their gigs.

Practice makes perfect

However, keeping in mind the limited dancing skills of most of the participants, each of the 10 couples would be provided with a choreographer like last year. . The couples were seen quite optimistic about their dancing skills. Bakhtyaar Irani said that when he dances well he is as good to watch as Sachin Tendulkar batting in prime form. He said if he could win the competitionwith the help of his partner Tanaaz, it would be the most appropriate wedding gift. They are set to marry this November.

Among other couples, Gauri Pradhan and Hiten Tejwani expressed immense pleasure in being a part of the show. Hiten, whom most of us better know as Karan Virani of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, promised that the show would be full of fun and enjoyment. While Hussain Kuwajerwala or Sumit Wadhwa of Kumkum fame Nach Baliye 2 to the World Cup of cricket. Among other `jodis', there were Rasik and Ketaki Dave, Shweta Kawaatra and Manav Gohil, Shweta Tiwari and Raja, Gurdip Kohli and Arjun Punjj, Narayani Shastri and Gaurav Chopra, Keerti Gaekwad and Sharad Kelkar and Gauri and Yash Tonk.

The judges

Speaking on the occasion, Deepak Segal, Executive Vice President, Content, Star India, said, "Nach Baliye is one show where the concept is a tested one and with judges like Saroj Khan, Malaika Arora Khan and Kunal Kohli the competition is believed to move forward in good spirit." The third judge of the first season, Farhan Akhtar has been replaced this time by Kunal Kohli.

You will, however, have to wait till next month to see how good these new set of actors would turn out as dancers.
