Beat street

African rhythm, pop and trance make it a mixed affair

Jessica Simpson

Beautiful Awakening

Stacie Orrico /EMI

After a three year sabbatical Orrico returns with a new cover.

Stacie wrote or co-wrote all of the tracks on the album best defined as one featuring an R&B sound with a pop sensibility. Pop and R&B producers Dallas Austin (Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bjork, D'Angelo, Pink, Kelis, Anastacia, Sugababes, TLC, Boyz II Men), KayGee (Mary J. Blige, Jaheim, Queen Latifah, Run DMC, Notorious B.I.G., Aaliyah), and others collaborate with the artiste for the record.

If her earlier self titled cover sold over two million records worldwide, the artiste aims at a new high this time around for one.

A Public Affair

Jessica Simpson/Sony BMG

The American pop idol returns after her runaway version of These Boots are Made for Walkin' for The Dukes of Hazzard (2005)--the film's first scorching release and the diva's fifth US Top 20 single.

Critics term her new cover, post her recent divorce with Newlywed co star Nick Lachey, as `a perfect record--wildly adventurous and maddeningly catchy dance track reminiscent of early Madonna, read Holiday, and of Diana Ross from mid seventies'.

Give your two cents next.
