Onotsavam '06

Quintessential Kerala will be on show during Onotsavam '06

Onam celebrations in Coimbatore this year promise to be a grand affair. The 40-odd Malayali associations in the district are coming together for the festivities.

The celebrations will be held on September 8, 9 and 10. Tamil Nadu Minister for Local Administration M. K. Stalin will inaugurate the celebrations on September 9 at 6.45 p.m. at the VOC Park grounds.

A cultural procession bringing together all the traditional arts of God's Own Country will be part of Onotsavam '06. Traditional Kerala art forms like Panchavadyam, Kavadiyattom, Pulikkali, Sinkarimelam, Theyyam and Kathakali will also be showcased.

The "pookalam" (flower show) will be conducted at the Ramakrishna Kalyana Mandapam from 9 a.m. onwards on September 8.

The cultural show on September 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at VOC park grounds will see the participation of Tamil and Malayalam movie stars.
