SALUTING MENTORS Disney gives children a chance to celebrate their favourite teachers in a unique way

Disney Channel is paying tribute to the country's teachers by dedicating a full week in September to celebrating Teachers' Day in a unique way.

As part of this venture, Disney Channel is offering children across the country, an opportunity to acknowledge their teachers' efforts and to make them feel special. Children can write to Disney Channel, mentioning their name and details such as address and phone number and the name of the teacher to whom they wish to send the card, along with the address of the school. Disney Channel will then send personalised greeting cards to their teachers.

Disney Channel will also run a contest based on popular characters playing teachers on the various Disney Channel shows, which offers children the chance to take their teacher and their entire class out for a Disney Channel treat. Children have to pick the "coolest teacher of them all" from among Miss Finster from Recess, Mr. Keith and Mr. Dig from Lizzie McGuire and Mr. Petracelli and Mr. Lawler from That's So Raven and the five winning entries will receive a Disney Channel treat each.

To submit entries for the contest or to send their teachers a card, children can write into the channel or log on to the website. Teacher's Week will be celebrated from September 5 to 9 on Disney Channel.
