RAMP- AGE Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna's collection

Opulent as always: The Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week is being closely watched as the country's top designers are unveiling the spring/summer 2007 collections. The opening day saw colour and more colour, as one would expect, from Manish Arora. The designer, known for his opulent style, didn't spare any attempt to be loud. Of course, while a few critics dismissed his collection as repetitive of his earlier show this year, others blamed it on the lack of time.

No time to fret: Lack of time? If you remember, the Lakme Fashion Week and the Will Lifestyle India Fashion Week were held just four months ago, in April. A section of the fashion fraternity has been ruing about the lack of time to work on new collections! And a few other designers have refrained from showing at the ongoing Fashion Week. A case in point is Ritu Kumar who is away in Paris to participate in another event.

English chic: The opening day also saw the duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna put forth their collection. A lot of structured, wearable clothes comprised their line that had a touch of English countryside. Pleated skirts, tunics, and tops were well received by the buyers as well as fellow designers.

Signature line: Still on fashion, but away from Fashion Week, here's what some other designers are up to. Sabayasachi Mukherji has just become more affordable. No, we aren't talking of his prêt collection but his entry into home segment.

He has joined hands with Bombay Dyeing and you can see some signature home linen, bedspreads and even towels.

Off to Paris: Designer Anita Dongre, meanwhile, is gearing up to showcase her spring/summer 2007 collection at a trade show in Paris. This is Anita's first foray into the European market.

Her collections can also be seen in the film Bas Ek Pal, where she has developed a distinct look for all the actors from Urmila Matondkar to Sanjay Suri and Jimmy Shergill.
