The hot spot

Crowne Plaza is holding Kacchi Handi Food Festival

EARTHY TOUCH Variety is the name of the game at the ongoing Kacchi Handi Festival

The flavours from Uttar Pradesh beckon. New Delhi's Crowne Plaza is holding the Kacchi Handi Food Festival at its Le Café restaurant. The cuisine on offer includes pudeena gosht, handi biryani, paneer mangodi, haarey ka salan and kulhad ki kulfi. Chef Rakesh Kumar is excited and optimistic,

"The concept of this festival is unique and nothing like this has been tried before. The festival will bring together an array of dishes cooked in earthen pots and `matkas'. Our earlier kabab festival was a big hit and we are hoping to get the same response this time."

"Cooking in earthen pots is complex and tricky, only a specialist can get the best out of it. Cooking in earthen pots takes time and special care is taken in cooking the food as the clay pots might develop cracks. The food cooked in the earthen pots has a warm natural flavour, the aroma and taste of the spices is noticeable. The heating of earthen pots for a longer duration brings out the best flavour. This food is healthier too," he adds.

UP ambience

About the décor, he says, "The whole ambience has been recreated in UP style with earthen utensils giving the guests an authentic Indian experience."

The restaurant has 95 covers. Lunch here costs Rs.800 and dinner is available for a hundred bucks more.

There is a wide range of beverages to go along with the scrumptious meal. A special menu for this festival has been introduced.

Smells delicious?
