Failing memory?

Now, a memory clinic for persons above 50 at Kilpauk

Memory lapses are not uncommon as age advances. It may be due to the normal process of aging or associated with physical and mental disorder. The most common disease causing poor memory in old people is dementia. Early detection of primary dementia like Alzheimer's disease is important to plan for future management and pharmacological treatment.

For the first time, the people of the city can benefit from a full-fledged memory clinic, functioning at Adhiparasakthi Clinic, 18A, Flowers Road, Kilpauk from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The services will be offered by a team of experts, comprising a psychologist, social workers and a trained geriatric nurse, led by Prof. V. S. Natarajan, geriatrician.

Persons aged above 50 experiencing difficulty in thinking, concentrating or remembering will benefit from the services at the clinic, which include assessing memory and cognition, assessing functional daily living, determining accurate diagnosis, providing education and training and support advice and training to family and caregivers.
