An important anti-oxidant

Curcumin is the major component of Turmeric (Curcuma longa L.). According to Anuradha Reddy, Consultant Dietician and Founder President of Diabetes Foundation, curcumin has many potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cancer curing properties. Extensive research conducted at the M.D.Anderson medical institute has indicated that curcumin can both prevent and treat cancer. Curcumin can suppress tumor initiation, promotion and metastasis, she said.

Other uses of curcumin are frequently described as anti-inflammatory and recommended for the treatment of such conditions as osteoarthritis and menstrual pain. With its anti-inflammatory properties, curcumin triggers heat-shock stress response.

Research shows that curcumin strengthens the overall energy of the body, relieve gas, dispel worms, improve digestion, regulate menstruation, dissolve gallstones, and relieve arthritis, among other uses.
