"Contemporising Buddha" by Rajesh Kumar Shukla and Arpana Caur is being released
|
Lord Buddha had once said that the cause behind all quarrels and disputes is the tendency to believe oneself as superior and the other as inferior. "I do not see this world has any problem, so I sleep with compassion for all living beings".
In today's world full of violence and hatred, these words can surely teach mankind a lesson or two about how to live in peace and amity. Delhiite Rajesh Kumar Shukla has come out with a book with artist Arpana Caur's paintings of Buddha backed by his elucidations with the aim of highlighting the tenets of Lord Buddha.
The book, titled, "Contemporising Buddha" begins with an "Introduction to Arpana's Art" by Rajesh and then moves on to explain her popular Buddha icons. The 51-year-old artist has been painting Buddha for the past 20 years.
Lama Doboom Tulker, Director, Tibet House, released the book at the Academy of Fine Arts and Literature in New Delhi the other day.
Adding more light to the subject, Arpana, present on the occasion, said, "I have painted every deity but to me, Buddha is the real messenger of compassion and peace."
Rajesh added, "The Buddha that she has personified is full of emotion and compassion and is very artistic. Her style is different and has used miniature form of painting to convey her message making it attractive."
