The Second Annual Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards function on March 10 at New Delhi

The Mahindra Group has announced the Second Annual Mahindra Excellence in Theatre Awards (META) 2007 that will be held on March 10 next year in New Delhi. Applications are currently being invited for productions in regional languages, as well as in English and Hindi. A selection committee will review the DVD productions, and select the finalists in January 2007. The applications are open till December 31, 2006. Selected finalists will stage their productions at Kamani Hall, Copernicus Marg and Sri Ram Center, Mandi House, New Delhi, commencing March 5, 2007.

META is divided into two categories - Established and Emerging (groups with not more than two productions) Theatre. These plays may either be adapted or original works by Indian or International playwrights. Theatre productions may be verbal or non-verbal, they may include physical theatre, puppetry, multi-media and dance. This year, entries for Emerging and Established Theatre are sought in the following categories: Best Play, Best Director, Best Stage Design, Best Lighting Director, Best Innovative Sound Design, Best Costume Design, Best Actor (Male) in a Leading Role, Best Actor (Female) in a Leading Role, Best Supporting Actor (Male), Best Supporting Actor (Female) and Best Original Script.

An eminent jury comprising experienced people from the world of the performing arts will view the productions from March 5 - 9 to select the award winners in the different categories.
