Soorya's cultural extravaganza from Thursday
The annual Soorya festival is back. The 75-day festival celebrating literature, movies, dance, music, theatre and folk arts starts on September 21.
This year's event begins with the movie segment. Catch `Athrutham,' 5.30 p.m., at Tagore Theatre followed by `Sasanam' at 7.15 on the inaugural day. A specially choreographed programme by `Samudra' on `Adityahridayam' and `Ganesa Vandanam' at 7 p.m. promise to be interesting.
On September 22, Soni Razdan's `Nazar,' at 10.30 p.m., `Antarmahal,' at 2 p.m., and `Mangal Panday-The Rising,' 4.30 p.m. will be screened at Kalabhavan. `Lanka' will be screened at Tagore Theatre at 7 p.m. the same day.
Nagesh Kukunoor's `Iqbal' is on September 23 at 10.30 a.m. at Kalabhavan. `Beru' follows at 2 p.m. and `Fanaa' at 4.30 p.m. `Achanurangathe Veedu' will be screened at Tagore Theatre at 7 p.m. More movies follow till September 30.
Short films will be screened at Kalabhavan (9.30 a.m.) starting September 22 till 30.
The inaugural film for the short film segment is Yatindradass' `Ottakambinadom.' Sherry's `Kadaltheerathu' is the concluding film in this segment.
C. Suseendran's exhibition of photographs entitled `Orchid Portraits' is being held at Kalabhavan from September 21 to 25.
