Film fest on the world around us
INFORMATIVE Curious about the world around you? Check out Vatavaran 2006
The Alliance Francaise de Bangalore is playing host to Bangalore CMS Vatavaran 2006, an environment and wildlife travelling film festival, from October 6 to 8.
The festival will screen a variety of films related to important environment issues faced in India by directors such as K.P. Sasi, Ashish Chandola, Mike H. Pandey, Krishnendu Bose and Nina Subramani among others.
An interesting feature of the screenings is that the second and third mornings of the festival will feature special screenings of films for children. Directors such as Romulus Whittaker, Vishal Furia, Syed Fayaz and so on introduce children to a variety of environmental concerns that are usually not covered within the standard school curriculum.
The festival will also host two symposiums on Managing Electronic Waste chaired by H.C. Sharatchandra, Chairman of the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, and on Wildlife-Human Conflicts: What is the way forward? chaired by R. Sukumar, Chairman, Centre for Ecological Sciences, IISc., Bangalore.
During the course of the festival, there will also be a photography exhibition titled Walk with Nature featuring photographs by Thakur Dalip Singh.
Vatavaran 2006 is on from 9.30 a.m. from October 6 to 8 at Alliance Francaise de Bangalore. For details, contact Ullaash Kumar R.K. at 94493-50275 or email ullaashkumar@yahoo.co.uk or rkullash_ooty@yahoo.com
