Jazzing up FM
Hop into a cab or even an auto in the city and you will find many of them blaring songs or a news update. It's none other than our Ananthapuri FM you are listening to. To catch up with the changing times, Trivandrum FM, the commercial broadcasting wing of Vividhbharathi, was rechristened Ananthapuri FM last year.
Regional content
A lot of regional content was added to increase listenership. As a result, you can listen to all your favourite music prorammes and news updates that are aired all the day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
AIR has the largest archive on music, claims Unnikrishnan Unnithan, programme executive at Ananthapuri FM. "That is our greatest asset. We have all kinds of music, old or new, and in all genres," he says .
When asked about the growing competition, he says, "We are changing with the times but never feel threatened by the growing private involvement. AIR has a tradition of 50 years and it is still numero uno," says Unnikrishnan.
The phone-in programme of Ananthapuri FM `Hello Priyageetham,' aired every Saturday and Sunday morning, is the most popular programme now. It's anchored by celebrities. New and interesting programmes are being planned under the national FM rainbow.
