Dhwani 06' had fun and frolic
|
The three-day fete ended with a performance by Rage and the Bombay Vikings
It was a confluence of youth as `Dhwani' offered three days of fun and frolic. The penultimate day saw a 6,000-strong audience from 49 colleges enjoying a cultural night that went on till 3 a.m.
Inaugurated on September 28 by Balachandra Menon, `Dhwani `06' was a carnival of events featuring literary, fine arts, dramatics et al. Events like Radio Masala, Cluedo, and Sellebrity were innovative. Broadcast live, a team of four were required to host a programme and entertain the masses for half an hour in Radio Masala.

One of the teams that participated in the event was All Saints College, Thiruvananthapuram. Said Remya, the team leader, "We really enjoyed the experience. One good thing about the radio station was that it was broadcast throughout the college (through loudspeakers) and there was always something going on."
Murder mystery
`Cluedo' saw contestants donning their thinking hats and exercising their brain cells. They had to solve a murder mystery. A video was screened showing the kidnap and murder of actor `Anamika.' Participants had to link the pieces together to pick up the clues to solve the mystery. However, solving the mystery was not an easy task as various ploys were inserted to lead the detectives astray.
Said Abid E.H. of NIT-C one of the prize-winners, "Finding out the culprit was difficult. The event really tested our wits."
Superb anchoring by the CETians saw Mr and Miss Dhwani continuing past midnight. The titles were won by Sabareesh A.S. of Amrita Institute, Kollam, and Febna Rehim of Government College of Women.
Apparel Design was another event that won appreciation.
A dance workshop by Rajasree Warrier, `JAM,' `MockPress,' `Rangoli' and `Whatz the Good Word' were some of the other popular events. `Informals' was a crowd puller.
Deepak Benny, convener of Dhwani, expressed satisfaction at the turn-out and quality of the events. Meera Kumari, the college union staff adviser remarked, "This is the best Dhwani I have seen and it went without any glitches". The three-day fete ended with a performance by Rage and the Bombay Vikings.
Famous for their metallic numbers, Rage had the audience tapping to the music. The Vikings entranced listeners with their hits including the evergreen `Woh Chali' and `Kya Surat Hai.'
Dhwani was a veritable celebration of talent and was worthwhile for everyone who experienced it.
