The Park bags the Award of Excellence in the State

When Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad are much touted as happening, it is time the port city of Visakhapatnam is also considered a force to reckon with.

As hundreds of crores of investments flow in for infrastructure and with a booming construction industry, it is but natural for visitors to start wondering at the accommodation available.

It's on these grounds that the three decade-old The Park is fashioning its USP. It happens to be the only five-star facility in a city that's fast becoming a preferred address in a preferred destination for many a corporate do or for leisure travel. The Park has been revamped and re-launched recently with new rooms, a newer restaurant and poolside relaxation space. To crown its achievements, the State Tourism Department has given the prestigious Award of Excellence to the hotel on being the "Best Five Star Hotel" in Andhra Pradesh recently. "The award is an appreciation of our efforts in maintaining global standards in both product and service standards," says an elated Subrata Majumdar, General Manager.

Gearing up to meet the rush of corporates to the city - thanks to the industrial boom - The Park offers state-of-the-art indoor and outdoor banquet facilities. Acclaimed as the only beachfront five-star hotel in the city, The Park has 61 rooms overlooking plush tropical lawns adjacent to the sea. All the rooms offer an uninterrupted view of the sea.

Spread across a sprawling six-acre extent, The Park is popular for its restaurants, poolside entertainment space, room service, bar and banquets. One of the first five star hotels in the State set up in 1968, it is part of The Park's unique collection of luxury boutique hotels in India.

The Wi-Fi networked hotel has facilities to accommodate 250 people for informal indoor gatherings while `The Lawns' are for large outdoor functions. The `Bamboo Bay', the open-air beachfront restaurant serving coastal and tandoori specialities is set amidst lush greenery offering a breathtaking view of the sea and the fading sunsets. The rustic ambience and the robust cuisine beckon the connoisseur. The amphitheatre attached, is a great place for live performances.

The all day dining restaurant `Vista' set within lush tropical gardens with views of the beach and the clear sea offers a feeling of openness. The first to introduce world cuisine in Visakhapatnam, it serves a range of cuisine from the tropics, Italian gourmet food and selected pan-Indian cuisines.

The `Some Place Else Bar' on the top floor offering a range of exotic spirits — cocktails and mocktails — in a library-bar setting is sure to provide the much-required retreat to visitors willing to relax. Then there is a poolside barbecue and lounge for relaxation, and the Crafts Court to showcase local art and culture.

For sports enthusiasts, the hotel offers tennis, volley ball, table tennis and badminton courts, jogging track. Outdoor chess board, a huge chess board with easily movable pawns of the size of about three-feet each, is another speciality. The Park has a complete health and fitness centre comprising a gymnasium with sauna, steam rooms and latest fitness equipment.
