Beer bounty

Royal Challenge has kick-started a month long series of beer related programes

GUZZLE UP! The Chef whips up some dishes at the demonstration

The Belgians love their beer with frites and molluscs (fries and mussels) and the Germans with their sausages. Even the people Down Under love to chug theirs endlessly. The Germans and Belgians are said to brew hundreds of varieties of beer between them. Countries across the world have various methods of brewing beer and have a favourite dish to go with it. Hyderabadis, of course, love theirs with biryani. And to promote this, Royal Challenge Premium Lager Beer launched its first Food and Beer Cocktails recipe collection.

The recipe collection, part of the `Royal Hyderabad- It's Happening!' promotion, includes dishes that make use of beer and ones that are best suited to the palette with a chilled mug of the drink. To demonstrate this, junior Sous Chef Swaminandan held an interactive cooking demo. He started out with a Swiss Roesti that included diced vegetables and beer. Chicken breasts with a spicy-tangy sauce followed along with crunchy, sautéed vegetables. Afterwards, guest got to sample these treats and some biryani, the dish that is said to taste best with lager beer. There's even a way of doing it right- alternate each spicy bite with a long sip of the icy beverage. This is just the beginning of the month long agenda planned. Other events include theatre events, concerts and special menu tie-ups with restaurants across the city.
