Rolls goes green
Rolls-Royce motor cars has set a new target to recycle 75 per cent of all waste materials generated at its Goodwood facilities by the end of 2007. A new dedicated waste management centre has been set up at the manufacturing plant and head office to recycle all types of waste materials.
Employees are encouraged to recycle and currently over 60 per cent of all waste items are being recycled, from paper and cardboard to glass, cans and bottles, from redundant computer equipment to scrap metals. Even parts that are ordered for production of the cars are delivered to Goodwood packaged in recyclable containers, which are returned for re-use.
Whatever remnants from the wood shop remain, they're all utilised by manufacturers of wooden products.Leather off-cuts are sold to buyers all over the world for use in other industries - for instance, the fashion industry. Even the landscape debris and the weeds cleared from the lake, in the 42 acre grounds, are composted for use on the Goodwood Estate organic farm.
