Popularity shooting up

Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, the sport of shooting is steadily growing in stature and mass popularity in India.

"Indian shooting has grown manifold from 2002 to 2006 as people have drawn the lessons and have started to believe in their ability to excel at the international level," Rathore said recently.

Family first

Footballer Juan Roman Riquelme who decided to hang up his boots when many considered him to be still at his peak said that he was concerned about his family and wanted to devote more time to them rather than to football.

The Argentina midfielder said: "It will hurt me deeply not to wear the Argentina shirt again but my mother's health comes first."

Better things to do

Cyclist Lance Armstrong who is now dealing with accusations of having used drugs to power his way to victories during his remarkable career, recently expressed his disgust at having to constantly deal with allegations of doping and cheating.

"Why do I have to keep fighting lawsuits when my time needs to be spent being a dad, being a philanthropist, being a cycling fan and being a guy that just wants to have fun," he said.
