Romance and the box-office?
RELEASES GALORE Aishwarya and Abhishek Bachchan
Will the Abhishek-Ash love story give a good opening to their forthcoming releases "Umrao Jaan", "Dhoom-2" and "Guru"?
Stories have appeared in all Page-3 Mumbai dailies and on Internet sites about their forthcoming wedding, quoting a Bachchan family astrologer. So does this whip up audience anticipation to see "Umrao Jaan", which releases this Friday?
Film publicists are working overtime to heighten the romance, but audiences have become smart and know better.
Recently a much-hyped Tamil film tried to cash in on the lead actor's fairytale romance and wedding but the move backfired and the film bombed!
Along with son Abhishek's, Big B also has a long awaited release.
After nearly 11 years, the Amitabh Bachchan-Arshad Warsi starrer "Zamaanat"(Bail) will at last be released this Friday. The film is produced and directed by veteran S. Ramanathan, Big B's buddy, who made him a commercially viable hero with "Bombay to Goa" in the early 1970s.
"Zamaanat" was delayed due to various reasons but Ramanthan says: "So many things happen without any reason." Karishma Kapoor is the heroine and the cast also includes Anupam Kher, Tinnu Anand and Vijayshanti. If you want to see the Bachchan of the 80s, as the angry young man, watch "Zamaanat".
