Making an Indian debut

Celebrating in a real big way has become a lifestyle statement in Delhi. And the introduction of a new wine is one of the reasons that provides an impetus to such celebrations. Riding on this emerging trend, some Argentine wine companies have decided to get into the Indian market, which they believe, has a promising future.

A launch pad

To provide a launch pad for these companies, Lotus Exhibitions and Marketing services organised an Argentine wine show at InterContinental The Grand, New Delhi, earlier this week. Speaking on the occasion, the Ambassador of the Argentine Republic, Ernesto C. Alvarez, said, "Wine acts as a bond that allows sharing of emotions." Questioned about the prospects, he says, "A spicy Indian dal goes great with red wine. It indicates that Argentine wine will suit nicely with Indian taste buds." Nine companies showcased their products. Importers were also invited, to help these companies to find their distributors in the Indian market. Asked about the response received so far, Sergio Mora Viera, General Manager of Don Domenico pointed out optimistically, "The Indian market is still not a developed one in terms of wine, so our drinks which are considerately priced can always have a good foothold".

The Argentine wines which are believed to be more fruity and have a longer sensation might not be a threat to the French wines which are considered the best in the world. But by successfully blending price and quality, they are definitely expected to be a part of Indian celebrations! Cheers.
