Of designer furniture by The Heritage
|
The Heritage Gallery is organising an exhibition of designer furniture and artefacts at Vimonisha, Khader Nawaz Khan Road, Nungambakkam, from today till December 2.
The range comprises terracotta-and-wood centre and corner tables, consoles, water fountains, dressing tables and beautifully framed mirrors.
Centre tables which use motifs of the sun god and folk birds, dressing tables with Egyptian motifs and corner tables with abstract patterns are an attraction. Created by in-house artisans using the terra-batik finish, the furniture comes in aqua and jewel tones. Some of the centre tables (all with elegant glass tops) also come with lights.
The consoles which draw inspiration from folk art have mirrors that are embedded in slate stone to give a distinct look. There are also wood-and-terracotta-tile consoles with abstract figures in the centre and matching motifs on the mirror frames.
There is a wide collection of mirrors that come in different shapes and sizes. There is no repetition of designs on the frames. Designer tiles have been stuck on some of the frames. Customers can mix and match the mirrors, consoles and tables. Besides, there is a range of murals, oil paintings, wall hangings and masks to choose from.
