Offbeat films

Malayalam superstar Mammootty is doing three offbeat films. The first film "Karuthapakshikal", directed by Kamal, where he plays the role of a launderer is receiving critical acclaim. This Christmas will see the release of "Palunku", directed by Blessy who made that memorable "Kazhcha", one of the best films in the actor's career. In "Palunku", he plays a down-to-earth farmer driven to the verge of suicide by the loan sharks. And for "Kaiyoppu", directed by Ranjith, he refused to take his salary, as the script impressed him so much. Here he plays a writer who develops writer's block.
