Another son rises

Jayachitra, who has acted in over 200 films in all South Indian languages, joined the television bandwagon in the 1990s with the hit serial, "Sumangali" on Doordarshan. Last year, she had turned producer, writer and director with mega serial "Sivaranjini" (DD) in which she played the title role. This serial gave Jayachitra a lot of critical acclaim. Now, her 17-year-old son Amresh is being launched as writer, music director and director of her new serial titled "Pankaja maami," which will be telecast soon. Says Jayachitra: "Amresh is still in school and he learned the ropes while I was making my earlier serial. "Pankajam Maami" is a family drama." Next year, Jayachitra plans to launch Amresh in films.
