Vijay plays cop

Vijay and Asin have just come back from Australia after completing a song for "Pokkiri", which is due for release during Pongal. The film is a racy entertainer in which Vijay appears as a rowdy in the first half and a fearless cop in the second. The cop in.ltrates into the local ma.a to catch an elusive don who controls the underworld. Asin plays an aerobic instructor. The film is a remake of this year's biggest hit in Telugu bearing the same title. The songs from the original by Mani Sharma have been retained but the highlight is the picturisation by Prabhu Deva who is directing his first Tamil film. "Pokkiri" has been sold at a record price by its producer Ramesh Babu.
